What Does Roadside Assistance and Towing Cover?

Whether it’s locking your keys in the car, getting a flat tire, running out of gas, needing a jump start, or towing, Roadside is here to help! 92% of clients combine the service with their car insurance though it can also be acquired through other sources. *Helpful Hint: When using the service, sometimes it is best to contact your carrier’s roadside department and ask if you can make your own accommodations and receive reimbursement later with receipt. This helpful hint isn't always necessary but can sometimes make a difference.

The overview shown below is general information that may vary per circumstance.

Roadside Assistance

Provides coverage if the insured’s car is disabled due to a covered emergency and is often available 24/7.

Locksmith Service

Are the keys lost, stolen or accidentally locked inside the covered vehicle? Have a qualified service provider come and assist. *The insured is still responsible for the cost of the key itself.

Towing

Insured vehicles can be towed within a certain mile radius, usually 15 miles, or to the nearest repair facility. If you choose to utilize a facility beyond this radius, you may be allowed to do so if you pay the difference.

Winching Service

Is designed to pull covered vehicles with a motor-powered cable or chain. Usually offered when a vehicle is trapped in mud, snow, water, or sand – often within 100 feet of a road or highway.

On Scene Labor

This is generally defined as on-site assistance necessary for qualified events with a one-hour limit.

Fuel Delivery

If you run out of gas or diesel, you can have fuel delivered. *The insured is still responsible for the cost of the fuel itself.

Battery Jump Start

Have a professional arrive at your location and assist in jump-starting your vehicle in the event that your battery is dead.

Flat Tire Change

Have a professional arrive at your location and assist in fixing or replacing your tire at the insurance carrier’s expense. *The insured is still responsible for the cost of the tire itself.

*Windshield & Glass

Glass is covered if you have comprehensive or collision coverage depending on the circumstances. Ask your agent about lowering or waving the glass deductible for an increased premium.

Need to File a Claim?

Always remember, claims departments are designed to assist as many clients as possible within any given day per state guidelines. Major events can cause longer waiting periods and delays that are not always comfortable to endure. Vehicle part shortages, hail storms and floods are only a fraction of the events that can make your uncomfortable situation seem like bad service. Carriers often have their own reserved claims representatives on hand but most also share third-party services in order to better assist their clients. You can start your claim by calling the numbers shown below.
